With half a dozen gigs lined up for the next 12 months, I’ve been listening to more music again to get back into the zone. I’m so glad that bands I love have still been able to make music throughout Covid, as I can’t even imagine the strain this virus has had on creative professions. Music and theatre returning is, for me, the biggest step back to normality.
Thinking of returning to live music venues genuinely gives me chills. My first show is Bring Me the Horizon this month, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a lot of overwhelmed tears on the night. Music has always been a huge part of who I am – it has solidified friendships, it was a massive subject Neil and I delved deep into when we first met, and my family home was a constant music-filled environment as I was growing up.
Here are some songs that have brought me a lot of joy recently. I’ll be seeing a handful of them over the next year now gigs are going ahead again. Enjoy! 🎵
Ice Nine Kills – Rainy Day (inspired by Resident Evil!)
Sleep Token – Alkaline
All Time Low (feat. Demi Lovato and blackbear) – Monsters
Bring Me the Horizon (feat. YUNGBLUD) – Obey
Machine Gun Kelly – my ex’s best friend
Eskimo Callboy – Hypa Hypa
Poppy – Concrete
Motionless in White (feat. Crystal Joilena) – Eternally Yours
