Still Life: A Sims 4 Story

Sims 4

I still remember the moment I woke up.

As I opened my eyes, I became aware of how cold the ground was against my naked cheek.  I was resting against patterned tiles, the kaleidoscope of diamonds adding to my already scrambled thoughts.  Where was I?  I could smell the fresh scent of varnish; the landlord had just finished the final coat, just in time it seemed for an unexpected guest.

The apartment was empty, stripped bare of all but a sink and toilet in the bathroom, through a door I wouldn’t discover yet for hours.  I don’t know how long I would have lay there for, if a small, soft nose hadn’t buried itself into my open palm.

“Mushka?  Is that you?”  A scrap of an animal, rib cage visible under a thin layer of straggly fur.  The trip had not been kind to him.

“What have you done to yourself?”

“You don’t look much better, my friend.”

I tried to remember the journey, to trace back the minutes to last night, last week.  But the thoughts were hazy and disjointed, just blurred faces and shapes with little meaning to me. I barely knew who I was, let alone why they had sent me here – was it for protection?  Punishment?

The sound of a loud thud through the walls made Mushka jump, and he approached the front door, sniffing at the window of light at the bottom of the frame.

I stood up, my body still weak from travel, and pressed my ear to the door, as Mushka circled my feet. There were faint voices, I was sure of it, but their words were indistinguishable.

“Mushka, I don’t think we’re alone here.”

“But what if they are hostile?”

His eyes narrowed.

“Clearly this experience hasn’t helped with your attitude,” I sighed.

My hand trembled as I reached for the handle, and opened the door to this strange, new world.

To be continued…

I got paid, spent over £50 on Sims expansion packs, and figured I should probably do something creative with it – enjoy!
